I didn't really care for the Daleks in the original show. They were plastic and sort of a joke to me. "Dalek" was the first time I felt like a Dalek was a realistic and credible threat. I think part of it was that it looked like it was made of armoured metal. That, and Eccleston's excellent performance. It was obvious John Pertwee didn't take them seriously. He indicated in an interview he hated the Daleks. "All you need is a short flight of steps to defeat them," he said. "Dalek" was serious business. Thus, it gets my vote. |

"Dalek" was intense. Loved it. And it was different than the usual oh-the-Daleks-plan-to-take-over-the-world/galaxy/universe type of plot. Liked the original story and Evil of the Daleks for the same reason.
