'YOU LOCKED THE FORGE IN A DIMENSIONAL PRISON. AND NOW YOU WILL SET US FREE.'
Anna suddenly felt a burning pain around her elbow as the other Forge dragged her towards the wall the Speculum aimed at. The one speaking to the Doctor began fiddling with a control panel.
'WE KNOW HOW MUCH YOU CARE FOR YOUR FEMALE COMPANIONS'
The interlocking cylinders began to revolve and there was a loud metallic thud the some whirring. Anna looked directly into the barrel of the machine as it shot a thin ribbon of blue energy at the wall behind her. The wall was now folding inward, the concrete being replaced by a shimmering mass, like a mirage.
'NO JOHN SMITH, WE WILL NOT KILL HER. WE WILL TRAP HER IN ANOTHER UNIVERSE, A PRISONER LIKE OUR PEOPLE. DO YOU HAVE ANY LAST WORDS FOR YOUR FRIEND?'
Anna watched as the mirage became more solid, the image of a field somewhere, crackling and bristling with electricity. 'Doctor!' she yelled over the noise of the Speculum, hoping he could hear her on the other end of the phone. 'Don't worry about me okay? Just stop whatever it is they're going to do! Do what you always do...save the world.' And with that she felt a burning sensation on her back and was pushed headlong into the shimmering wall in front of her.
Anna tumbled forward, hitting the grass hard and tumbling forward a little until she came to a stop by a tree stump. She sat up and instantly regretted it. Before she could stop herself she was throwing up on the grass, she'd endured some interesting modes of intergalactic travel in her time with the Doctor but that was by far the worst. She stopped throwing up and leant against the tree stump looking at where she had emerged. It was the same field as the TARDIS had landed but there was no Speculum project buildings anywhere in sight. 'There goes any means of getting back home...' she muttered, staggering to her feet slowly, her stomach still feeling delicate. The Doctor had gone to a mansion house somewhere nearby hadn't he? Maybe the house would still be there in this universe, she had to give it a shot, it was all she could think of.
'The time for meeting disappeared the moment you threw Anna into another universe....' the Doctor hissed through clenched teeth. He hit the red button on the phone and ended the call, before throwing the phone across the room, Ryan managing to catch it before it came to any harm. 'Have you ever been able to travel to the same universe more than once?' the Doctor asked.
'I don't know, you'd need to ask Henry.' Ryan replied, placing his mobile back in his pocket.
'That's not going to be possible...' the Doctor trailed off. Anna would be fine, she could survive on a different Earth until he figured out a way to get her back. As long as it wasn't too far from their own version. He had to hurry.
She'd been walking for hours, but no sign of the mansion. She eventually approached a road that looked like it hadn't quite accepted the introduction of the motor car yet. And then she realised, maybe it hadn't. Maybe she was trapped on an Earth that was far behind her own in technological advancements, if that was the case she'd have a long wait before getting home. Letting out a sigh, she slumped down against a tree by the roadside thinking what to do next.
Up ahead she saw something moving, it looked like a horse and cart, and as it got closer she realised that's just what it was; a horse and cart loaded up with goods. The man holding the reins was dressed in a long black cloak and had a rifle strapped to his back. It looked fairly recent, in fact Anna was sure she had seen it back at UNIT h.q when she had first started. The man noticed her, and pulled back on the reins, bringing the horse to a halt. The man removed the rifle from his back and aimed it at Anna, who duly raised her hands. 'State your intent!' the man rasped, whoever this man was he didn't sound very well.
'I...I...er...' Anna didn't think 'Hello, I'm from an alternate reality and I'm just trying to get home' would get her very far. 'I've traveled here from far away, I'm trying to find the old mansion.'
The man squinted, trying to get a better look at her. 'What business do you have at the mansion?'
'I'm kind of hoping someone can point me in the right direction home...' she shrugged, it was the only reason she could think of.
'Very well.' The man rasped, shifting along in his perch. 'Climb up, I'll take you to see the Doctor.'
