The Year of the Comeback to Stretch into 2006?

Okay, so this year saw the return of (in no particular order) The Two Ronnies, Boycie and Marlene, Family Guy, Captain Scarlet, and some fella who travels through time and space in a police box.

Next year will apparently see the return of Smith and Jones and The Prisoner.

So I suppose it has to be asked, is it now getting to the stage where well meaning TV Executives, in an attempt to combat reality TV, are trying to come up with new television but have to settle for remakes and returns?

For instance, look how many old DW episodes were based on Frankenstein, The Mummy, etc.
