Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter was struck in the chest by a Stingray whilst filming a documentary in Australia. He is only the second person to be killed by a Stingray. He will be sorely missed, his shows straddled the breach between entertainment and education really well. Thoughts to his wife and two kids.

I was never a huge fan of Steve Irwin, not that I had anything against him, but it still is sad and quite tragic. My prayers to his family.
It just goes to show, no one controls nature completely.

I always liked him, but the news is talking about him like he was a head of state. I understand that Australia even offering to give him a state funeral.

Yeah! The reputable British newspaper called him 'Australias Princess Diana' his family have refused a state funeral saying that it's not what he would want.

RIP Steve. tragic news. a great man who had a real passion for animals and conservation Damn right. This is sad especially when you think about his children. I never thought he would die a peaceful death in his bed however. He died doing what he loved, being near animals. R.I.P. Steve Irwin, I had a good time watching 'Crocodile Hunter', 'Croc Files' and I was also one of the people that liked 'Crocodile Hunter: The Movie' (which I saw in the cinema).
