Slagathor, I keep trying to get SOMEONE to give me an out-of-state (or out-of-country) job, but no luck so far.
I'd LOVE to get to paint the TARDIS instead of more palm trees.

Hi Mare,
Sorry to hear your horse had so much trouble. I do like your website. I did see it a while back; impressive then and now.
Hope you horse is feeling better. Just out of curiosity, do you use Eqvalan for worms or GastroGard for ulcers on your horse? Just wondering. (They're former clients of mine.)
Glad to hear from you again. Hope to hear more from you.

Prof,
Twilight has never (that I'm aware of) had ulcers. That's mostly a problem of horses kept confined in stables, and she isn't. She may have had them back in her days as a PMU mare, before I got her, or in her time of confinement while her foot healed. I never saw any symptoms though. So I have no idea what they use for equine ulcers over here. Personally, I think the best cure is lots of turnout time!
We use a number of things for deworming. I know the actual names of the chemicals, much more than I know the brand names, but I don't think I've seen Eqvalan.
Twilight runs around and bucks and kicks up as if she's never been lame a day in her life, so yeah, I'd say she's doing fine. :-)

Hi Mare,
Your site is great. You do fantastic work. I wish I were half as talented. I'm also glad your horse is doing well. An artist with a horse named Twilight -- I must say your life sounds very romantic.

Actually GastroGard is used mostly for performance horses, racing, dressage, etc. The generic name for the dewormer is 'ivermectin'. It may be also commercially available as Zimectrin, or some other names, as it is no longer under patent. Also in an odd coincidence, I referred to ivermectin in my fan fiction Firefly. Glad to hear Twilight is feeling better.

Yup, I'm familiar with Ivermectin under a number of brand names, and also Praziquantel and a few others. We rotate them to prevent the parasites from becoming resistant. I do remember that bit from Firefly, too, now that you mention it. The Doctor used ivermectin to cure some cattle, as I recall.
Speaking of parasites, as I type this I can hear the Mosquito Control planes flying overhead. This are WWII era aircraft, quite large--4 propellers each, I think--which "bomb" the area with billowing clouds of malathion, thus killing mosquitoes and also dragonflies, butterflies, and bees. Unfortunately.
Welcome to Florida. Stay inside til the cloud of poison clears...
