My copy had mild bad language in it! 'Bitch' and 'Bastard'! I was shocked! And seeing as this is a spoiler thread; Ron calls Malfoy a two faced bastard and Molly Weasley calls Bellatrix a bitch.
My favourite bit in the book had to be Snape's final scene, being killed by Voldemort so that he could get the best out of the Elder Wand. The bit where he gives Harry his memories (I assume to allow Harry to truly understand him, and to know of what Dumbledore and him had planned and why he killed Dumbledore at the end of the Half Blood Prince.) I think it was great having Harry's younger son named Albus Severus. Nice touch.

I was pleased to see I was right about Snape in the end, that he really was a hero, although admittedly a dark and flawed one. Everyone thought I was a nutter for believing so, even after he killed Dumbledore.
I was a little disappointed in the epilogue. I wanted to know more about what everyone was doing. We only learn about the next generation and that Neville becomes a herbology professor. I was expecting Hermione to become a teacher at Hogwarts, maybe even headmaster. Did Harry ever become an Auror?

Something tells me we may find out all these answers at some stage. She has said 'never say never'.

Ok, ive read many a thread on Harry Potter on a couple of forums, and ive seen the first three and the fifth films. i thought the films were ok, and the last one was nice and dark, especially for a kids film.
so, basically, im just after recommendations. are the books worth a read? and what are they like in terms of other series of books etc? i mean, would i enjoy them if i liked something like, for example, pratchet or tolkein, taking two random names.
and did any of that make sense?

I believe the books are worth the read. You get a lot more depth, especially of scenes that were glossed over in the films. There are also additional scenes. I've never talked to anyone who has seen the films but not read the books, always the reverse. If you read the books, I'd be interested in hearing what you thought, from that perspective.

Ive heard a lot of mixed reviews about the latest book, and obviously judging from the success of the series, they must be good.
im definitely tempted to give them a go, so when/if i do, i'll certainly give my views.
