Cunningham, Anna and Harchester watched the fire rage from outside. 'Slightly over-dramatic in there weren't you?' Fairweather quipped walking forward.
Cunningham shrugged. 'Yes well, I've never been shot before so I wasn't entirely sure how to pretend.' He turned to Harchester. 'Thank you for missing...gave me enough time to get that teleporter device for the Doctor.'
Harchester shrugged. 'No problem...I thought by taking out the man who invented the machine, the Aqualons would pause, I didn't know it was as simple as dropping you headfirst onto the panel.'
Anna turned to face the three men. 'Incidentally, where did you send the Doctor?'
'Bracing isn't it?' the Doctor beamed at the three Aqualons who were looking around, trying to figure out where they were. The Doctor looked down the rows of shelves housing numerous frozen samples. 'I do like a nice big freezer...there's never enough room is there? I mean one awkward sized pizza box and you need to readjust the whole thing!' He crossed his arms and shivered melodramatically.
'All you do is talk! Let us out of here or we will destroy you!'
The Doctor smirked, the light-hearted manner suddenly disappearing. 'Then come ahead.'
The Aqualons lunged forward, but could not move further, their lower bodies frozen to the freezer floor. They felt more of them solidifying, as the Doctor just watched a deathly serious look on his face, as he turned the wheel on the door to open it, promptly locking it behind him and turning the temperature down further.
Anna saw the figure of the Doctor emerge from the blazing doorway, dusting down his long brown coat and coughing a little bit. She ran forward and embraced him in a hug. 'Thank god you're alright!'
The Doctor chuckled. 'Ah, would've been alright, I've easily got a couple more regenerations in me!'
She punched him playfully on the shoulder. 'I've only just got used to this one mister!' Harchester was approaching them now, just as the fire engines pulled up in the driveway.
'The Aqualons?' Harchester asked.
'Once the blaze is tackled, I'd take a temperature controlled container up to the storage freezer...take our friends somewhere they can appreciate their new solid forms.'
Harchester nodded, then went to talk to the Fire Chief. Anna moved to stand by the Doctor. 'Feeling better now?'
The Doctor took a deep breath, puffed out his chest and exhaled loudly. 'I think I'll be truly better once I get out there and see this universe with these wonderful new eyes. Care to join me?'
Anna smiled at him, and took his arm. 'Can't have you going off on your own can we? God only knows what mess you'll get yourself into.' They both laughed, two old friends together, and began walking past all the shaken diplomats, UNIT soldiers and firemen, down the lane and through the fields below.
The End
