The Titanic in space? Sounds like crap to me? Where did RTD steal this idea from? Enlightenment?

It's got golden angels that look just like the Axons in it, too. Once again, Davies shows his breadth of imagination and capacity for original ideas.

I was actually liking the idea of a Titanic story until I saw the flying ship.
I admit I didn't think of the Axons until Cornelia mentioned it. I just thought he was doing a different version of the evil Santas.

I just thought he was doing a different version of the evil Santas. Well, you never know - the killer Santas may yet put in a cameo appearance! It wouldn't be Davies' style to let an idea go until he'd worked it to death. (The fact that the Titanic sailed in April, and thus would be unlikely to have Christmas decorations on it, is not something that's likely to deter Davies.)

It reminded me of Enlightenmnet, so could we be seeing the return of the Eternals?

It reminded me of Enlightenmnet, so could we be seeing the return of the Eternals? I certainly hope not. I thought Enlightenment was a rubbish story. The idea of sea-going ships in space is equally rubbish. (Unless I actually like the story.) I've generally not been thrilled with the Christmas specials. And based on the photos, I'm not getting too excited about this one. There are two photos of people named Foon, that make me think that this will be an example of some of RTD's more insipid storytelling. Actually, as I look back over the past three series, the best stories were written by someone other than Davies: Dalek, Empty Child, Human Nature, etc.

Well, maybe the April crossing wasn't the first voyage of the Titanic. Maybe there was a Christmas crossing, but after the events in this story, everyone's minds were wiped. I wouldn't put it past RTD to work the Santas in that way.

After reading DWM, I think I can work out how the Titanic is in space, at Christmas...I've seen it all somewhere before though.

From the trailer, it looks a little like Poseidon Adventure.

For the first time...since probably Aliens of London, I was completely, utterly unimpressed. There was some good bits, revisiting the darker side of the Doctor for example ("I CAN DO ANYTHING!") Geoffrey Palmer may have been the best thing in it and George Costigan was entertaining enough. But I'd seen it all before, it was nothing new, of course the Christmas specials are supposed to be light bits of fluff to keep the family entertained but this was dull, uninteresting and most of all seemed pretty pointless. I honestly think I enjoyed Catherine Tates Christmas special more than this...which I suppose bodes well for Series 4!
