Hello, I think most people here will know me from LM. I thought I'd pop over here and see how it goes. Hope to have some interesting conversations soon.

Tell more about yourself Meridiana. Not all of us were on LM. Hello, thanks for the welcome. Well, I'm 45, so getting on a bit, married nearly 20 years, middle-aged mum. I'm also a linguistics graduate. As you can imagine, I've watched Doctor Who since it began. I can't actually remember the very first episode, though my parents tell me I watched it, but I do remember very well that cliffhanger at the end of the first episode of the Daleks when Barbara is trapped in a room with all the doors closing as a DAlek advances on her. That is my earliest memeory of Doctor Who. My favourite Doctor is the fifth, and my favourite story is Genesis of the Daleks. Truth to tell, I feel a bit wary about posting on Doctor Who boards at the moment, because of all the quarrelling and nastiness that goes on, and it really does seem to be a regular occurrence. I used to post on BBCi, as well as Dan's old board, and it was an ongoing problem there. However, this is new and seems to be a nice place so far, so I'll see how it goes. Thanks.

My objective is to keep things on an even keel. I liked Dan, but I think he placed too much of his personal self-esteem into his boards. Being a little older, I can separate my self-esteem from this forum. It isn't life and death, just an entertaining diversion. So, I hope you come to visit and enjoy yourself.

Well, I think he is 19 or so, and at that age, your self-esteem is often on very shaky ground anyway. It's very easy to flare up at all kinds of imagined slights. As you get older you develop more of a sense of proportion and learn to attach importance to the things that really matter. It sounds as though there was over-reacting on all sides in this latest business. However, I don't want to say anything that will stir things up, so let it pass. I too hope things will stay on a more even keel here.
