To be honest, it doesn't interest me at all, mainly because the main chaacter will be Captain Jack, one of the most boring, cliched one-dimensional stereotypes ever to appear in Doctor Who. I honestly couldn't see why he was in it at all, as he seemed to contribute very little, and there was nothing interesting about him as a character - he was a cliche from American action films. About the only thing that could arouse even mild curiousity about him was the fact that he had had his memory wiped. There was some mystery hinted at there, but there weren't enough other interesting things about him, to make me feel it was worthwhile seeing it solved. So I can't imagine being interested in a show with him as the hero.

Personally, I'm really excited by this idea. A Doctor Who spinoff that might actually work!

So, it's probably not a joke. I just hope the quality of Doctor Who dosen't suffer because RTD and company are distracted.

Oh....
Well although I liked Jack, I'm not at all excited about this show. And has 'Torchwood' got anything to do with it? I mean is there a character called it..etc..?
It may be an anagram however it has no real relevance to the show. Or so it seems...

And it isn't the first time it's been used. There was a character named Torchwood in the webcast, "Real Time" starring Colin Baker.

I suspect Torchwood will probably be the name of the team that Captain Jack joins to investigate stuff with.
The Torchwood Group or somesuch.
I don't really have an opinion on the series yet as I know too little about it. Don't have anything against the character though.

Neither do I. I thought he was the better companion.

It may be an anagram however it has no real relevance to the show. Or so it seems... According to a recent DWM article by RTD, he has planned another 'Bad Wolf' style link to run through Series 2. He specifically stated that this word is an anagram. Torchwood is an anagram of Doctor Who, so to me this would suggest that Series 2 will be the feeder for the spin off series.
