Destroying Gallifrey

There was a story,either a book or audio,where the Doctor destroys Gallifrey. Can anyone tell me the name of that story, and whether it was a book or audio?

im not too sure of the facts, as ive not read most of the 8th Doctor books, but there was a war between the Time Lords and the Faction Paradox (who im not too sure about!) and the Doctor had to destroy Gallifrey and the Paradox, which kind of paradoxed itself (i think). the Doctor loses his memory and put on earth in the late 19th century so that he and his TARDIS can recover.

this is what OG's book guide has to say about it, possibly more comprehensable than my answer!

A major turning point in the adventures of "Doctor Who"... the Doctor returns to Gallifrey, encounters Grandfather Paradox (the continuing Faction Paradox storylines) and is forced to make the greatest decision of his life. In the aftermath, Faction Paradox is wiped out of existence (paradoxing itself), and Gallifrey is obliterated, destroying the Time Lords, President Romana and the Eye of Harmony. The Doctor loses his memory, though his TARDIS is rescued as an embryo. Compassion leaves Fitz on Earth in 2001 and drops the Doctor off in late 19th century England, without his memories, so that he (and the TARDIS) can recover over the next hundred years; Compassion then leaves to explore space on her own. The Doctor is once again a man on his own, as his homeworld of Gallifrey is gone, seemingly forever. A watershed book.

although i do beleive that the Time Lords are still about in one of the other 8th Doctor books, and the Doctor regains his memories in Gallifrey Chronicles.

Why destroy Gallifrey? Gallifreyans have a well thought out culture. I miss them..........
