I've been watching the new episodes of Stargate Atlantis.
As you may know, the character of Elizabeth Weir has been killed (?) off, although it's been done in a way that Torri Higgins could return as Weir, or as a replicator.
In her place, they have transplanted Amanda Tapping, reprising her Samantha Carter role. I was very excited when it was announced. I loved her in SG1. But to be honest, I find Carter to be rather flat and uninteresting on this show.
I know some will say that she's now in the 'base commander' role, but she's still less interesting than Weir, Hammond or Landry.
IMHO.

I kind of agree. I'm hoping they beef-up her role a bit, send her off-world, etc.
Plus, I think it was a mistake to let her hair grow out. It was much better short.

I understand this week McKay, Carter and the new doctor (not Doctor) will fall down into a hole off-world. Wow, a hole! Not exactly facing the Master or the Daleks, but...
;D

I thought it was an interesting episode, but not that exciting. Sort of a three-trapped-in-an-elevator type of story. Not that much different from DW's Edge of Destruction.
They seem to be doing a series of stories where they primarily use only some of the cast:
- Sheppard & McKay - Sheppard & Ronan - McKay, Carter & Jewel
I guess that's to distract from Teyla's pregnancy.
