Has anyone been paying attention to the election? Comments?

How can we avoid it? I find Sarah Palin rather amusing. Basically, John McCain has chosen Annie Oakley as her running mate. She and Dick Cheney can have a shoot out.
I like both Obama and McCain, but I'm sure Obama will win.

I must admit I don't know much about American politics. I would like to see Obama win, however I get the feeling that a lot of the Red States won't be too chuffed if he does. I remember reading something said by a lady from the south, I think it was, and she said something like; "Obama, Osama. What's the difference? We're not having a terrorist run this country!" It's a shame that there are people who are so prejudiced out there. However, I'm sure that her views don't represent the majority of American viewpoints.

It's amasing how only the extremes seem to be quoted.

It's both amusing and makes you sad that there are people like that in the worlds!

I find it interesting how both candidates this time round are figures that appeal to both camps. McCain is one of the more liberal Republicans and has chosen a pro-life female running mate whilst Obama supports the death penalty and is one of the more conservative democrats. It's a tough one to call, I think McCain's age and Palin's lack of foreign policy experience (I mean it's possible she'll have to take over should they get in and McCain drops down dead.) may be their downfall. I'd like Obama to win because I think it's exactly the sort of change we need.

Actually Obama is fairly liberal in general. Although I will admit that neither candidate comes out of the standard mold of either party. I've generally been betting that Obama will win. However, after last night's speech and the resulting commentaries, McCain is clearly going to give him a good run. And despite the accusations and party affiliation, I don't think McCain will continue most of the Bush policies.

Did anyone see the Saturday Night Live opening with the real Sarah Palin. The only thing really funny about it was that she actually showed up.
