www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/s4/misc/news/David Tennant has announced, live on the National Televison Awards when accepting his BEst Drama Performance award, that when the show returns in 2010 for a new full series, he will NOT be playing the Doctor.

Apparently Tennant has four more specials to film. I wonder if they'll address the Doctor's relationship with River Song.

Also, I'm not sure it's ever made explicit that she's met Tennant's Doctor. She recognises him sure, but also recognises he's younger. This sort of suggests she's either met an older 10th Doctor or a later incarnation.

I believe that Moffat may address the River Song stuff during his tenure but I don't expect to see her in any of the specials.

If she recognised him, he must have been in his 10th regeneration. If somehow she was able to still recognise him in a different regen, she would have immediately recognised that he had regenerated.
The story must be addressed with Tennant, or simply leave it as an unrecorded adventure, perhaps to be addressed in a book or audio.
