Yes, filming of Planet of the Dead, the next DW special has begun.
What we know is that at least part of the story will take place in contemporary London. The guest cast will include Michelle Ryan, best known for EastEnders and Bionic Woman.
Rumours say that two new species of monster will appear, a change from the run of old monsters we've seen a lot of lately.
More info and rumours to come.

We also know that there's some kind of bus journey involved and that Lee Evans will guest star. All very interesting, I like how RTD and his team seem to be bating the tabloids recently; "David Morrissey as the Doctor you say?" "So you think Michelle Ryan's the Season 5 companion do you? We'll see about that!"

"Planet of the Dead" sounds like a classic series episode. There were a lot of "...of the..." titles.

It's quite exciting, but I hope they introduce the new companion before the Tennant/Smith regeneration. I think it would be a bit much to introduce a new Doctor and companion in the same story.

Good point Claire, though they managed it reasonably well in Spearhead from Space so we'll see. I know from reading RTD's fantastic book that he offered to seed certain things for Series 5, whether they make that decision or not I don't know, but a companion may be one of them.
