Complexes, Part 1 – Lost Time
Deep within Cheyenne Mountain, Colonel Carter and Dr. Lee headed for the conference room. General Landry was already there.
“General, all our tests went off without a hitch,” Lee bubbled. General Landry was always a little wary of Lee’s enthusiasm.
“Colonel Carter, what is your assessment?”
“All the actual readings of the generated space-time curves match our prediction models. They are perfectly modulated in a synchronous reality.”
“Again once more, this time so a layman can understand.”
“There seems to be little doubt we alter the configuration of the Stargate to operation as a temporal portal.
“A time machine?” Landry confirmed. Carter nodded.
In fact, we’ve taken the liberty of beginning the configuration for a first live test. The Stargate can still be used for the usual gate travel until we throw the final switch.
“Not so fast.”
“I beg your pardon?”
“Washington is sending an expert to review your work before it proceeds further.”
“Please, not Rodney McKay?”
“No, a Doctor Ann MacGregor.”

“Oh come on, admit it. You had fun!” beamed the Doctor. Dr. Gregory House shrugged reluctantly.
“But, it’s time to go home,” Gregory House growled.
“Don’t you want to go visit Albert Schweitzer?”
“Schweitzer was an idiot.”
“An idiot? He spent years…”
“Again….an idiot.”
“You’re awfully tetchy. You would have gotten on well with my first incarnation.” The Doctor smiled. Despite House’s complaining, he was having the time of his life.

Ann MacGregor was an elegant woman in her late sixties. It was easy to imagine her as a younger woman, modeling or even participating in a beauty pageant. However instead, she spent her life in the pursuit of science on various government projects.
She was overdue to retire. But then the call came. She had failed to avoid this type of disaster before, but that could not prevent her from trying. Here she was deep within Cheyenne Mountain, yet another top secret underground facility. She often wondered how many of these projects the government had. There was a knock at the door.
“Come in,” MacGregor said. Colonel Samantha Carter entered with a pleasant expression on her face. MacGregor had seen this same expression before ona host of eager young scientists.
“I just wanted to see if you need anything or had any questions,” Carter lied. She really wanted to size-up Dr. MacGregor. “The temporal displacement equations are kind of dense reading for the uninitiated.”
“What makes you think I’m uninitiated?” MacGregor asked, not expecting a response.
“Well, this is cutting edge work,” Carter insisted.
“Not as much as you think,” MacGregor said curtly. “I’m well up to speed on your theoretical applications. Although, I’d like to hear how you and Dr. Lee are addressing the temporal vector control issues.”
“We can begin the briefing in about ten minutes.”
“Very well, I’ll meet you in the conference room in ten minutes.”

MacGregor was waiting in the conference room for the others to gather. See was looking out into the gate room. Of course, the stargate had to be round. How ironic was that?
“Dr. MacGregor,” General Landry called, beginning the meeting. “You know Doctors Carter and Lee. This is Colonel Cameron Mitchell and Dr. Daniel Jackson.” They each greeted her. “T’ealc the other member of the SG1 team is off-world right now on Chulak.
“Yes, SG1 is the team that will go through the temporally modified stargate,” she acknowledged. She wondered if she could save them. Or would they be lost or die?
