Part 4 – Not Wilson
****************************************************
General Landry was the last to return to the conference room.
“Colonel Mitchell, what do you have on our Doctor House?”
“Doctor House’s identification and background seem to be bona fide, except for one thing. I called Princeton-Plainsboro Hospital in New Jersey and spoke to someone insisting he was Dr. House.”
“So he’s an imposter?”
“Probably, but one thing doesn’t make sense, sir. He was carrying business cards and other identification with the real Dr. House’s contact information. It’s not something a con man would do. In addition, this man’s voice sounded exactly the same, at least over the phone.”
“A clone perhaps?” Jackson added.
“What about the Doctor?” Colonel Carter asked. “The John Smith one, I mean.”
“He’s a bit more mysterious,” replied the general. “After inquiring through various intelligence channels, I received a call from a retired British Brigadier, Sir Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart, formerly of UNIT. He told me that I should trust the Doctor, despite the fact that he is actually an alien.”
“How can you trust an alien?” asked Ann MacGregor incredulously, remembering her own encounters decades before.
“Actually Teal’c, a member of our SG-1 team, is an alien,” Daniel reminded her.
“Anyway,” continued Landry. “This Brigadier couldn’t provide a physical description. He claimed the Doctor’s appearance changes periodically. But, he was able to describe the Doctor’s craft. That blue box is called a ‘Tardis”. Apparently, this Tardis is a time machine.” Carter, MacGregor and the others perked up.
“That would make sense, sir,” began Carter. “When we opened the temporal wormhole, it could have intercepted the Doctor’s time machine.”
“General, since neither of these men have weapons or have threatened us in any way. Maybe we should release them,” suggested Daniel Jackson.
“Well, they did breach a secure military installation…”
“Yes, but given their craft, they probably didn’t realize…”
“Relax, Dr. Jackson. I just want to ask them a few questions.” Landry signaled for the two doctors to be brought in.

“Doctor, I bring greetings from a friend of yours, a Sir Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart.”
“How is the Brigadier?”
“I don’t know him personally, but he said we can trust you.”
House turned to Samantha Carter. “Does this mean we can be friends? I have to say I find a woman in uniform a real turn-on.”
“You, Doctor House, if that is you real name, are a different story,” announced Colonel Mitchell. “I called Princeton-Plainsboro Hospital, and spoke to the real Doctor House.”
“The real Doctor House? …. Wait, your voice sounds familiar.” House turned to the Doctor. “Is it possible?”
“Yes, we were moving backward in time when we intercepted the Stargate’s temporal wormhole. So he could have spoken to you.”
“It is theoretically possible,” Sam interjected.
“I asked you if Wilson put you up to it. Then you hung up.”
“Yes.”
“I’d say we have a pair of bona fide time travelers on our hands,” Landry announced.
“Will you help us?” Carter asked.
“No," the Doctor answered. "You’re dabbling with forces that shouldn’t be played with.”
“Unless you’re looking to go on a nifty vacation,” quipped House. The Doctor looked at House in an annoyed fashion. “Don’t look at me like that. Remember Sodom and Gomorrah?”
“The Doctor’s right,” exclaimed Ann MacGregor. “That’s the same reason I came here: to stop you from, as the Doctor puts it, dabbling in time travel.”
“Wise woman,” the Doctor said approvingly..
“Dr. MacGregor, don’t you want to find your friends?” pleaded Carter.
“Of course, I do. Perhaps, the Doctor can help us find them, in exchange for Stargate Command terminating its reckless experiments.” Landry didn’t like the deal MacGregor was suggesting.
“In that case, I’m agreeable to at least try,” smiled the Doctor.
