So what did we all think of The Waters of Mars?
I'd hardly say it was the scariest Doctor Who ever, well, actually, not on the scale of the monsters. It was, however, downright terrifying to see the Doctor finally realise that, as last of the Timelords he should be able to dictate the laws of time. One of my first thoughts was that, perhaps, the Master is going to bring the Doctor down to size a little on Christmas Day!
Other brilliant things about it were the Mars landscape shots, (realised via CGI and a local quarry, highlighting the pointlessness of Planet of the Dead's trip to Dubai.) the scenes between Duncan and Tennant, discussing how things were supposed to turn out, and the references to the Ice Warriors. All in all, after the woeful Planet of the Dead it's rewarding to see Waters of Mars live up to the title of 'Special'.
