Sandwiched between the incredible, jaw dropping season opener and eagerly anticipated, mystery shrouded 'The Doctors Wife' this was always going to be a bit unloved.
For me, it was a lot of fun, rattled a long at a fair old enjoyable pace but seemed to stall the moment Rory was rather comically thrown overboard. From then on, the Doctor makes a huge leap of logic (and faith) and is transported to a medical bay where the Siren is actually a holographic doctor gone a bit wrong who's trying to repair the injured pirates. So far, so Empty Child/The Doctor Dances etc. Oh, and we get a dead Rory again....almost.
For an episode that opened with so much promise; atmospheric ship shrouded in fog, mysterious creature spiriting away the crew, Hugh Bonneville on fine piratey form, it was a shame for them to chuck such promise overboard (SEE WHAT I DID THERE?) with an overused conclusion.

It was a good little romp. I enjoyed it, some good scenes and good to see the Doctor having to rethink his theories every now and then.
Although as for the multiple errors with Amy's CPR method, we wont go there... ;D

I think Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon was such an epic story, many stories would pale by comparison.
The logic of the Siren coming out of reflections was strained, as well as the illogical jump of the Doctor, Amy and the captain cutting themselves to save Rory. And the mysterious eye-patched woman appearing to Amy is getting a bit annoying.
I hope The Doctor's Wife holds up better.
