Chapter 1
A fierce winter storm ravaged the surface of Forgahstid V. A young woman hurried on despite the biting cold wind and the swirling snow. She knew she had to get away from the two strange men in the blue box, she had no idea why she was with them only that she had to get away from them before it was too late. She struggled through the snow, she kept hearing strange howling noises which she was certain wasn’t the wind.
Harry Sullivan ran out of the TARDIS he had to go and find Sarah, she had been acting very strange these past few days, the Doctor had reassured him that everything would be alright and that she just needed a relaxing holiday but Harry sensed there was something more sinister going on. He buttoned his duffle coat
“Come on old girl, it doesn’t look much fun out here” he muttered, as he made slow progress through the snow.
Forgahstid V only had one city, a swirling metropolis of glass and steel towers. In the Central Tower a man was watching the young woman’s progress on a row of monitors with amusement
“Well you humans are certainly a resilient lot I’ll give you that! Oh well I suppose I had better go and rescue her, she might come in handy for something!” he said.
The man was tall, he had brown hair and strange compelling grey eyes, it was difficult to put an age to him, he seemed timeless. As he dressed to ward off the cold outside he noticed one of the inhabitants of the planet had entered the room, they wore a anti contamination suit. The man sighed
“What is it now Zeg! You have your work to do and I have mine! I asked you not to bother me whilst I am in here! Remember what will happen if you displease your deity!” the man boomed.
“But but Lord Baron, the deity is at rest we have not seen him for these thousand years or more. We fear however that he is stirring from his long slumber he has sent us this winter storm and worse the virus from time. You must come we need more Visaralium all other compounds have failed and the situation is now critical” Zeg stammered.
The Baron shook his head “Go back to the underground I shall be with you shortly. And Zeg your deity may be closer then you think!”
Harry trudged on, he was getting cold and tired, it was starting to get almost impossible to move in the deepening snow. He had no idea which way Sarah had gone. He stopped briefly to rest he called out
“Sarah where are you! Sarah come on old girl come back to the TARDIS!”
As he set off again he heard a howling noise in the distance he wasn’t quite sure whether it was the wind or just his imagination. He didn’t get very far before a figure seemed to appear from nowhere and collapse in the snow. Harry rushed over to see if he could help. He turned the figure over and discovered it was a man, his face and forehead were bleeding heavily Harry observed he had a beard which was flecked with pieces of pure white.
“Come on you look in a bit of a state! Let’s get you back to the TARDIS, we’ll soon have you patched up again, you’ll be as good as new you’ll see. Lean on me that’s it” Harry began.
The man seemed in a state of great agitation he shook his head “They are hunting, they are coming, quickly we must get away before it is too late” he said.
The howling noise came again and this time it seemed closer. Was that a growl Harry wondered, he hurried as best he could with the howling noise appearing to be closing in all the time……………..
