Time Virus.
Part four.
As the storm lifted gently a dark figure could be seen making towards the open TARDIS doors, the wind distorting his footprints into bizarre shapes behind him. Cloaked in black, the figure was wearing a high collar and striding towards the out of place police box with high confidence and no fear of the strange object.“Maybe you are right, Harry.” The Doctor muttered examining the Master.
“Sorry, what was that?” Harry asked looking up from his patient.
“Oh, nothing, nothing.” The Doctor snapped standing up.
A sudden gust of strong wind whipped his hat from his head and sent it blowing across the console room with a flurry of snowflakes.
“My hat!” The Doctor grabbed at his head, before noticing that the wind had come from the direction of the doors. The curly haired Time Lord slowly turned round to see the figure at the TARDIS doors.
“Ah, Doctor!” It said.
“You again?” The Doctor bellowed.
Harry jumped to his feet at the realisation that there was another person in the TARDIS.
“Doctor, who the devil is that?” He asked
“Quiet Harry.” The Doctor snapped back. “What do you want with me now?” he shouted at the figure in the doorway. “Didn’t I do enough for you on Skaro with the Daleks? You promised you’d let me live my own life free from you. What now, can’t you leave me alone for five minutes?”
The figure held up his hands. “Relax Doctor, you really must learn to control that temper, it will end you up in some serious trouble one day.” The figure folding his hand behind his back and strode calmly and confidently into the TARDIS. “I’ve simply come with a message for you this time Doctor. The High council thought that you…” He stopped as soon as he saw the master lying on the floor. “Ah, I see I wont have far to go to repeat the message.”
“What message would the council have for me and him?” The Doctor gestured to the Master.
“It involves and old acquaintance of yours from your academy days. Co-ordinator Rontal, now going under the name of; The Baron. He’s here, on this planet, and he’s not too pleased with you. Both of you infact.” The Time Lord said encompassing the Master in his speech. “What you did at the academy may have seemed small, but it seemed to affect him quite drastically, and now he blames both you and Kos- The Master for it. Be warned Doctor, he’s not beyond criminality these days. He violently assaulted two technicians and the Chancellery Guard sent to arrest him before he stole a TARDIS and left Gallifrey. Be on your guard Doctor”
His speech finished the Time Lord faded out of existence.
“I say Doctor. That was a rum do, what was all that about?” Harry asked.
“Trouble, serious trouble.” The Doctor replied. “We’d best try and wake him.”
“No need Doctor, I heard.” The Master muttered, groggily getting to his feet and steadying himself on the console. “So, Rontal is after our blood is he? Dragging us both through time out of our proper time streams and to this forsaken hole in the universe. Wherever here may be?”
“Forgahstid V.” The Doctor replied sharply.
“I say, all this is going beyond me.” Harry blustered. “Could one of you, and I assume you could, tell me what’s going on here?”
“We’ve been manouvered off course by an old teacher of mine-of ours from the Prydon academy.” The Doctor said.
“Yes, when we were at the academy, The Deca played a small prank on one of our tutors, Co-ordinator Rontal, although the Doctor and I were the ringleaders.” The Master admitted.
“The Deca?” Harry asked.
“Yes, that was what we called ourselves; our friendship group. There were ten of us, all top scorers in our own fields, but things have changed somewhat now.” The Doctor mumbled.
“You mean, you two used to be friends?”
“A long time ago.” The Master confirmed
“It’s a long story Harry, and we haven’t got time.” The Doctor said. “We need to find Sarah and what Ront-The baron is up to. Apparently he’s gone down your path.” The Doctor added looking at the Master.
Sarah opened her eyes. The world seemed to have gone crazy. Where was she? Why wasn’t she in the TARDIS?
“Doctor? Harry?” She called and instantly regretted it. The sound of her voice seemed to echo around her skull and split her head. She felt like she had the worst hangover ever, just a bit worse that new years day 1975. A shadowy figure loomed above her; she couldn’t focus on any features yet.
“Take it easy young lady, you’re quite safe now.” The Figure said.
“Who-who are you?” Sarah asked. “And where’s the Doctor?
“I am called; The Baron. And as for the Doctor, well, he will come soon enough. You just rest.” The Baron turned away and left Sarah to drift back to sleep.
Sitting down at his desk, the Baron smiled. He knew the Doctor would come for the girl, and with Ko-no, he’s called the Master now. With them both here, they would hopefully destroy each other. If not, they would no doubt pay him a visit. The Baron smiled. The cities militia were under his control. They always need new test subjects to try and defeat the virus that’s swept the planet. Such a pity, he thought, that they will never know that not only did he unleash the virus himself, but he also held the only know antidote.
