Chapter 5
The eel was only inches away from the Master’s throat, green slime dripped from it’s jaws.
“This isn’t real it’s an illusion I won’t submit to this, no this isn’t real I refuse to believe this things existence” the Master began.
He heard the sound of very faint laughter and the eel disappeared. Caesar was sat up in bed his face drenched in sweat, he was still very weak, his lips were dry and cracked.
“Water please I want some water!” he called.
The Master noticed a jug of water and a glass on the bedside table he poured some into the glass with a sigh and made Caesar drink slowly.
“Now then young man you are going to tell me everything you know about a certain key, if you don’t we may never get out of here and I’m sure you don’t want to spend the rest of your life marooned in this miserable place” he said
“Key you have the key to my lodgings that was quick I only spoke to the landlady a couple of days ago” Caesar replied.
The Master grabbed Caesar’s arm but Caesar was already sinking back into a troubled unconsciousness.
“You stupid delirious human, I might have known I wouldn’t get any sense out of you. I suppose we shall have to wait for the fever to break otherwise we shall never get any answers from you” the Master cursed.
He went into one of the other bedrooms snatched a blanket from the bed and took it back down to Kez, who was sat shaking with cold, the Master quickly covered her up and said
“I’ll make you some tea that should soon warm you up! By the way I have been informed that the young man upstairs goes by the name of Caesar. That just leaves our guest on the couch here, wish we could make head or tail out of either of them”
Kez shook her head and frowned “Is this all we are going to get then Emil, illusions, threats from strange entities and people who seem to have lost their memories because I don’t think I can cope with too much more of these events” she said.
“I’m sorry my love I haven’t got any answers to give you right now, but we will get out of here I promise. I’ll find a way and figure all this out so please just bear with me” the Master dejectedly replied.
The man on the couch began to stir he was still muttering something about a rip in the woods.
“Scenery it’s only scenery it doesn’t exist” he said
“What on earth is he going on about! If the woods are only scenery then that’s our way out of here we can push it over or tear it apart and be on our way!” Kez began.
“I’ll go and have a look! You stay here Kez, lock the door behind me. Somehow I don’t think it’s quite as simple as that but it’s worth a try” the Master replied.
As he opened the door he was blinded by an orange light that appeared from out of the sky, a strange looking glowing orb hovered over the woods and disappeared in amongst the frozen trees.
“Emil don’t go out there what ever that was I’d rather we didn’t find out!” Kez warned.
“Don’t worry about it probably just another figment of our imagination. I’ll go and investigate this so called rip in the woods and be right back. You just lock the door, everything will be alright!” the Master said, trying to sound more reassured then he felt.
He made his way out of the cottage and down the path, he found himself having the same trouble as the man did who they had rescued, he kept getting stuck in snow drifts. He pulled his legs out of the drift cursing. He stopped just outside the woods as he looked round he heard a deafening high pitched whistling sound he covered his ears, out of the trees the orb came racing towards him, it hovered several hundred yards in front of him, it radiated more orange light, quickly enveloping the Master in its midst…………………………….
