Chapter 6
The Master struggled to keep his balance, he couldn’t see anything through the strange hazy orange coloured light, as soon as it had appeared it disappeared again, the Master blinked to try and clear his vision. When it cleared he saw a man striding effortlessly towards him the snow drifts didn’t seem to hamper him at all. The man was tall he had dark hair and eyes he wore a heavy black cloak his appearance was of a young man but the Master sensed something ancient about him, he saw him reaching for the handle of an ornate looking sword. The man spoke, his voice was deep and resonant
“Come it is not safe for you in the cottage, you must hurry the rift has closed now but there is another way we still have time!”
The Master freed himself from the snow drift. “I have people in the cottage who are depending on me. I won’t abandon them and I’m not sure I trust you enough to let you help us, I don’t even know who you are” he replied.
“My name is Jazaran and I have been sent here to help you! I am not here to earn your trust and it is not necessary for you to like or dislike me. I cannot emphasis enough how important it is that you leave the cottage since it is his epicentre, you will stand a better chance of finding a way back if you leave and come with me”
“And I cannot emphasis enough to you that I will not abandon the people in my care! One of them is very ill he has a very high fever and it is not safe for him to be moved at the moment” the Master continued.
Jazaran nodded “Very well, we shall go and tend to them. Here take hold of my cloak”
The Master tentatively grabbed the cloak and he and Jazaran glided back towards the cottage. They stopped at the door
“Be ware he has sent more illusions, he is not pleased by my arrival, prepare yourself” Jazaran warned.
The Master opened the door and he was horrified by what he saw the floor and the furniture were covered in blood. It was then that Caesar came from out of nowhere brandishing a knife that was also covered in blood. The Master could see Kez on the floor, she wasn’t moving he dashed over to her as he did so Caesar raised the knife over his head and swung it down towards the Master’s back! This didn’t seem very much like an illusion, it was then that everything swam out of focus and darkness descended……………….
