What type of story do you like best?
I'm partial to the pseudo-historical stories, such as Masque of Mandragora.
Or better yet, stories that involve time travel as a element of the story such The Ark or The Mawdryn Undead.

I actually rather like the Hartnell-style pure historicals, and I wouldn't mind at all if they had at least one in the next series. I also like stories with a "time paradox" theme, such as Mawdryn Undead, as well as slightly "Gothic" stories that border on fantasy, such as Warriors Gate.

Yes, I like stories like that too - stories with a bit of originality in them. There's no reason why all aliens should be humanoid.

And they all speak English! No they don't! It all just sounds like English because the Doctor/TARDIS is making everyone hear things in their own language by telepathy!

Precisely Meridiana. The ninth Doctor explained that to Rose in one of their stories, didn't he?

Yes, he mentioned it in the End of the World. It was mentioned in the old series, too, in the Masque of MAndragora, I think, when Sarah-Jane wanted to know how she could understand it if everyone was speaking Italian.

I did use to like base under siege stories lots but recently I've warmed towards the Hartnell historicals, in particularly Marco Polo, a real shame that it exists only in an audio medium. Pseudo-historicals are alright too but give us anachronistic deeply historical scenarios; things like Curse of Fenric and Empty Child might qualify as scary, thrilling but the adventure of seeing things like Linx and his robot knight and the Gelth wandering around, screaming.
I'd love to see an even earlier period treated with a very alien-piece of sci-fi entered into it.

I don't think 'Max' has a spoken language, just a series of noises, he actually communicates telephathicall with The Editor (perhaps).
