What about the nice chap who plays cricket? Did Davison cut it?

I thought Peter Davison was nice, but he didn't seem as interesting as some of the others.

I liked him a lot. He came across as a lot more friendly and approachable than some of the others, without losing any of the necessary authority - he was always capable of taking charge of a situation when he needed to. I think he gave a more consistent performance than Tom Baker, and had the most consistent run of good stories of any of the Doctors. Terminus and The King's Demons being the only ones I don't really like.

He was a very tame replacement when compared to Baker. He would be regarded better if he had followed Troughton, perhaps Pertwee too. But of course, if that were so, he'd have to have been even younger.
