That's quite a good point, maybe I should start up some sort of debate...hmm....wasn't Tom Baker rubbish? Maybe you should start this on separate thread. Done! ;D

He was from the Key to time onwards with the exception of his final season. There he was more serios but looked very tired of the role.

I've been enjoying Tom's portrayal in the Key to Time, it's utterly ridiculous, but I like the grumpy aspect to the character even if he puts me off a lot by staring right at me at some points.

When his Doctor regenerated into the Davison Doctor I cried, such was the impact that he made on me. I tried very hard to like Peter Davison in the role but he didn't compare to dear old Tom in my estimation ;D

The trouble with Tom Baker was, by season 17, he couldn't restrain his tendencies to make a fool of himself, instead of acting. It was as well he got a producer who could rein him in for his final season.

Rubbish may be a bit strong but he is my least favourite of the original series Doctors (yes, I preferred Paul McGann) and his first season is, in my opinion, the most derivative of any sci-fi series (any good sci-fi series).

I only used the term rubbish as an attempt to inject some life into the board, seems to have done the trick! I'm not sure if JNT reigning in Tom was such a good thing, yes he was going over the top, but in his last season he looks so bored (granted he did 7 years in the same role) that I think that boredom rubs off on to the viewer. After the Leisure Hive I feel that season is pretty rubbish to be honest.
