Looking at the collection of actors who have played the Doctor, doesn't it seem that David Tennant is too handsome to be the Doctor?
Actually, I'm quite attracted to him. But I think the Doctor should be more avuncular. Not geriatric like Hartnell, or too young like Davison. Troughton seemed perfect.

Well, Peter Davison and Paul Mcgann were both young and fairly good-looking young men. I don't really feel bothered by whether the Doctor is young, old or whatever - he's over 900 so his outer appearance isn't a guide to his age anyway - it's his character that's more important.

I think the whole young attractive Doctor thing is a direct result of the way showbusiness works today. You need to have young attractive stars to get people watching. (Which is actually bollocks but that's how they see it.) I still think we should have an older companion once Rose leaves as it would be an interesting contrast to Tennants fresh faced attractive Doctor.

An interesting idea. How old do you propose? As old as Maggie Stables?

I'm not sure I'd go that far, because well...the reasons I stated above. Someone between 40 and 50 and still attractive enough to draw in the audiences. (God that sounds terrible, I'll take a shower after this) I'm not sure what actress, Mary Tamm is a good example of what I'm thinking.
