:)As part of the BBC's Children In Need night and appeal this year the BBC Press Office and the BBC Who site have announced a special mini-episode of Doctor Who! Little is known about it except it will be written by Russell T Davies. Rumours, of course, abound. It may be set between The Parting Of The Ways and The Christmas Invasion and it may feature David Tennant and Billie Piper. Then again it may not! ;D Whatever they decide to do, the adventure will be shown on BBC1 on the evening of November 18th somewhere in the all-evening Children In Need programme. Less than a month to some new Who!

Sounds quite interesting! I've got a feeling it'll be Tennant though, because from rumours, I get the impression that Eccleston wasn't entirely happy with his time on Doctor Who, so I doubt he'll be coaxed into doing an extra story, even if it's only a short piece. Still, it'll be interesting to see what transpires.

Just thought of another aspect of this. If Tennant is in it, will this be the story in which we see Rose's response to regeneration? Surely not. This will be the equivalent of the first, Hartnell/Troughton regeneration for the show's new generation of viewers - a major event - and I find it hard to imagine that something so significant will be tucked away in a short mini-episode. Would such a thing give time to work through Rose's response to regeneration, which she had no reason to expect, for instance?
I hope they don't make a pig's ear of this.

It's only going to be a short thing for charitable purposes. It may not even be a proper part of the series. We just don't know. It might just be a fun thing with stunt guest casting or something.
That said, if there was one thing Eccleston would ever return to Who for, I suspect it'd be for charity.

It's RTD, it'll be something a bit fun and a bit silly, doesn't need to have any links to the series other than the Doctor and Rose. Do you think we'll have new fans having canon debates ala "Dimensions in Time" (That said, it isn't much of a debate, it's utter nonsense which has bugger all to do with the series!)
