Well then, was it an "affirmative" or a "negative"? (See what I did there?) I really enjoyed it (big surprise there, I appear to be the only person on this board that likes David Tennant at the moment! ) and thought it was moving, funny, exciting, everything a Doctor Who story should be. A return trip to the Lis Sladen wobbly lip school of acting was very much appreciated. Anthony Stewart Head was excellent, and seemed to be channelling Anthony Ainley at a few bits. And the 'you can spend the rest of your life with me' speech is David Tennants finest hour so far. Lovely stuff.

I'm liking Tennant. Especially in this one where he plays some much darker stuff and completely nails it. Including that aforementioned speech. It has to be said that I'm being distracted by all this 'Aberdeen' business though. Aberdeen & Hazlehead last week. SJ having been dropped off there instead of Croydon. Aberdeen is the new black y'know.

As a story, I thought it was quite reasonable, and it kept me interested until the end. I felt that Tennant was better in this one too, more serious and less the "stand-up comic". His scenes with Anthony Head were good. It was especially interesting to see him being subject to temptation and almost giving in - an interesting twist in the tail. Liz Sladen was great as Sarah Jane Smith, and it was good to see the consequences of her travels with the Doctor explored, and how difficult it might be to readjust after having such adventures. I could have done without the silly and pointless "B*tch-fight", though, which added nothing to the story, and was quite out of character for both the protagonists. Nice to see Mickey joining the TARDIS crew too - this is something that should have happened a long time ago.
Hopefully, this will be the start of a period of improvement for the new series.

Haha! Indeed Buglass, Aberdeen the new Bad Wolf? Discuss.
I don't know about the bitch fight thing, I thought it worked, because if you think about Rose has been led to believe that she was special, that the Doctor only took the best and now she finds out there's a whole load of predecessors so she's going to be a little ticked off. And Sarah Jane is jealous because she still wants to be out there with the Doctor and now a younger model is doing all those things. Lovely stuff it was. Now bring back the Brigadier!

I didn't think that I would be saying this, but that was a little disappointing. It was great to see Sarah and K9 back again and surprising to hear just how much she actually loved him when she travelled in the TARDIS. But, I was left feeling a little flat after the end. I just haven't 'warmed' to Tennant as yet and still prefer Eccleston. However, it's still early in the run so I hope he gets better as the series goes on.
