Well, it truly is the parting of the ways, the final episode, with no promise of a second series in the US in sight. But I thought it was a great story. (Although, I liked 'Dalek' better.) Jack was at his best. The only thing I didn't like has the Doctor wimping out at the end. He had already made a similar decision, destroying Gallifrey. So why hesitate now, especially since the people of Earth would die one way or the other?

I thought the story was a classic. The only thing that stuck out was Jack kissing the Doctor on the lips. I wasn't grossed out. However, I felt awkward, and a little annoyed at Russell Davies for pushing his own gay agenda in what is primarily a children's show. I'm not homophobic at all. But there's a time and a place. "Queer as Folk" was fine. On Doctor Who, it was a bit strained. A hug would have made the point better. Jack also made a comment about being a coward. When was he a coward? A con man maybe. I don't recall a coward.

It was a good story on the whole. The Emperor was great, and the solution to the Bad Wolf mystery was ingenious, if a little convoluted. I didn't like the ending much, with all that soppiness. But a nice end to the season.
