That's staggeringly unlikely! It took Big Finish years to get her back for a single audio play! ;D
I think, if it's to be done with a purpose ala School Reunion, then it should be Ian. The Doctor's seen what happens to a companion after he leaves. What would his response be to seeing one much nearer the end of his life? (No offence to William Russell)

I think Ian would be an excellent choice. As I recall, they were going to bring him back for the The Mawdryn Undead, but he wasn't available. Instead they used the character of the Brigadier, which was a little odd. Lethbridge-Stewart as a maths teacher?

Yeah. Wasn't much of a rewrite was it? Must have been very late in the day.
Might be a fun exercise. Watch Mawdryn Undead and see how much of the Brig's dialogue you could hear Ian speaking.

I've always wanted to see what happened to Ian and Barbara after they returned to Earth. Mysteriously disappearing for two years would probably hurt their careers severely.
They touched on the aspect a little bit in Aliens of London, with Rose disappearing for 12 months. But admittedly, she didn't have a career or even a job. What would such a gap be like for Barbara and Ian? Did they get married, since they would never be able to explain their adventure to anyone else?

It's true, it would be interesting to know how they explained their two year disappearance too. I wonder how they explained about Susan going missing too - surely there were investigations after all three of them so suddenly disappeared!

I hadn't thought about them having to explain Susan's disappearance. That could be quite sticky.

Well her Grandfather also disappeared so the authorities would probably assume he took her away from the area as suddenly as they appeared. Or at least they would have if Ian & Barbara hadn't vanished at the same time...
