Firstly, thank you very much for that Day Today reference, always a good way to start a day!
I loved it, I think I felt more of an emotional connection with this finale than last years. I think that's mainly because everything was kept very under wraps, and we didn't have much of a clue as to how Rose was gonna bow out. I definately feel it was one of the best companion departures, right up there with Jo in the Green Death, Sarah Jane Smith (in both Hand of Fear and School Reunion) and Romana. That said, it did drag on a little, but their final goodbye reduced me to blubbering wreck.
The Cybermen and Dalek battles. Hmm. That started out brilliantly, with them finally coming face to face, the trash talk was quite good, and I had high hopes, but soon enough the Cybermen became cannon fodder for the Daleks.
And this series of Doctor Who has finally given me the opportunity to yell "WHAT?" really loudly at an episode, when the Daleks said the Genesis Ark was of Timelord technology I was so surprised. Loved the idea of the prison ship that was bigger on the inside than out. I think this was possibly a set up for the return of the Timelords?
Thoroughly enjoyed it, even though there were a few classic RTD plot holes, but yeah, what a finale! And what the hell was that ending all about??? 139 Days to go!

I thought this was very good as an adventure story, with plenty of running around and Daleks blasting the Cybermen. I was a bit disappointed with the Genesis arc, as I had hoped for something a bit more original, but it was fun seeing all those millions of Daleks swarming over London.
I did find the sentiment a bit much though. Pete and JAckie rushing into each others arms to a romantic Hollywood weepie soundtrack was not really to my taste. And the ending was overdone and went on too long. But all in all, an enjoyable episode.

I thought this episode (two-parter) was great!!
Watched big-screen-style, projected on a wall, with friends... better still!
One big plot hole... the solution hinged on contamination with 'void-stuff'... by which the Daleks and Cybermen could be sucked back into the void. But in the first part, talking about the sphere/voidship, the Doctor emphasized that the void was absolutely empty... absolute NOTHING. So... what's 'void-stuff' then?
Never mind.
Really poignant parting scenes... at Bad Wolf Bay!
He never quite got to say he loved her. Then (weird or what) a bride is suddenly there in the TARDIS... and he for once is utterly gobsmacked.
My guess is, she was on the OTHER ('our-world') Bad Wolf Bay's beach, for an outdoor wedding... and when the Doctor's projection-link collapsed, she sort of leaked through.
Or maybe the TARDIS engineered it, so he wouldn't be lonely?
Christmas to wait for! ;D

Is it me? Or did the Genesis Ark look phallic? Is this another example of RTD slipping in his sexual jokes?

I think by this point RTD doesn't even have to insert any jokes of this nature into the series. So many people assume he's doing it anyway that he can just sit back and let everyone create them for themselves! ;D 'Ooh, that ark looks a bit phallic.' 'Did you see the codpiece on that Cyberman?' 'That thing they took out of her brain is just a huge white...' and so on... (also see the words 'insert' and 'doing it' in this post. Oo-er missus!) (and, come to that, the title of this thread!) (and that previous sentence! )
