I just watched Idiot's Lantern. I was away and had to tape it along with Impossible Planet.
I liked Idiot's Lantern a lot except for the face-sucking thing. If the Wire was feeding on electrical impulses, why did the victim's face get removed? It was just stupid. I'm not usually this critical, but I thought it was completely unnecessary and illogical.

I agree. While I'm not much of a stickler for etting science exactly right, the whole face-sucking thing was stupid. How could they survive without a mouth or nose to breath through? And if this was a side effect, why was the face replaced with smooth skin?

That's a very good point. This story had its weak points but I thought it was one of the better stories in season 2.

The concept of an alien using television to reconstitute itself is a clever one. And I liked how they tied it to the Queen's Coronation.
(But I agree the face-sucking thing was rubbish.)
