One more thing; have you thought of maybe advertising in SFX for members? It's totally free and I did it for TFF and we got some new members out of it. I am waiting for a second ad to appear. If you are interested, I'll send you their e-mail address.

I think it's just a matter of there not being much to talk about at the moment as there is no new Doctor Who on TV at the moment. I expect it'll perk up in time. Of course, the Americans are getting series 2 now, aren't they, so I guess they'll have something to say about it soon.

Time for a Torchwood board on TFF then. It can join the Robin Hood one I intend to add.

Does seem a tad slow here and there as of late but it's obviously not for any of your lack of trying. In fact I just saw Thasc and Roger pimping out TT40 on another site earlier today. It does seem a shame that everyone has fragmented but with so many little niche forums that's really to be expected. Anyhow, I thought I would come over and make the grand gesture by inviting anyone interested to join us at www.dwredux.com (Doctor Who REDUX). Richie and several of the LM crowd are already regular contributers. We've managed 7 pages of conversation on the new Series 3 monster SPOILERS alone. With Torchwood fast approaching it's sure to pick up even more.

At the risk of sounding rude (and that is not my intention), but it's a bit off promoting another forum in a thread where the admin of this forum is asking if this forum should carry on.

I didn't mean to be rude either but think the post was rather apt actually Duncan. It speaks volumes. It's also very much on topic.

I think we should just leave this forum open. I am not a member of LM or DW2005 or DWRedux but from what I have seen this forum and the Final Frontier are the most peaceful at the moment.

I think we should just leave this forum open. I am not a member of LM or DW2005 or DWRedux but from what I have seen this forum and the Final Frontier are the most peaceful at the moment. I think that's what the issue at hand is. I may not post here generally speaking but I do lurk and read and know what's going on at this and several of the Who forums. It's peaceful here yes but it's also stagnant. I am not trying to be mean, I am being realistic and it has very little to do with rousing discussion 'scaring' off members or there supposedly being nothing to talk about. If anything it's the lack of rousing discussion that scares people off. Ninth and Beyond... has all of about 3 or 4 people posting consistantly and listening to StephenHannan talk about himself, Richie posts more on REDUX than on his own forum which is almost as quiet as it is here and that's sad because at one point Richie's forum was the cream of the crop. Being peaceful is nice and benign but it's sucked the life out of many of these smaller forums. Now granted REDUX is quite small, much smaller than all of the associated sisterhood of LM forums at this point but at least there is discussion and debate going on between people of widely disparaging points of view. Do you honestly find it invigorating and entertaining to read 10 threads all saying the same "Oh Gone On My Holidays", "Oh Back From My Holidays" all with the EXACT SAME "Oh good for you glad you had fun" replies? If something is dead it's dead. You can't beat life back into a dead horse. I won't presume to say shut any forum down and I am definitely not saying shut them down in favour of any place else but I AM saying it's time to face facts. I was under the impression that discussion about the continuation of this forum was wanted from all it's members so I am participating. This thread is very apt; your own relevance is a hard thing to have to consider. The reason I don't post here is because it's dull as dishwater. The reason I don't post at LM is that in addition to a difference of opinion, the life was being systematically sucked out of there, I'm sorry Richie but it's a husk of it's former self; 9th & Beyond, Final Frontier .. well it's basically all a variation on the rehash of the same reasons. Even the members here that bother at all can't manage more than a "Oh Hi sorry I haven't been around," it's not just me that finds it hard to be inspired to participate, look at your membership rolls.

Redux is too extreme for me. I have had a look and although I am not prudish at all, the launguage being used on your forum is too bad to be seen on my screen when I have two children looking over my shoulder being nosey.
I'll decline your general invitation to join if you don't mind.

We don't moderate or use language filters and freedom of speech is encouraged it's true and of course it's your perrogative to join in that or not. I guess I am lucky in that my daughter doesn't read yet. REDUX is a forum for adults to behave like adults and discuss DW and that's what it serves to do quite well if you look at the post count. I am not offended that you've declined the offer and I hope likewise you aren't offended by my posts on this topic. It's often harder to see the truth of a situation when you are mired in it.

I'm not at all offended but I think you are wrong to include The Final Frontier. We are building a membership that is not solely reliant on members from the usual forums. Many have come in without the experiences of using a forum before. TFF is a broader subject based forum and not just Doctor Who. There isn't much Sci-Fi about at the moment but we still manage more than the general niceties that you speak of.
Good luck with Redux, and good luck to this forum too.
Oh, and I wondered where you had all gone. I'm just surprised that Richie spends more time there than on LM.
