Redux is too extreme for me. I have had a look and although I am not prudish at all, the launguage being used on your forum is too bad to be seen on my screen when I have two children looking over my shoulder being nosey. I'll decline your general invitation to join if you don't mind. Ditto, Duncan. I don't mind a bit of colourful language (as I am from the north) however there is way too much swearing on that forum. Swearing online is not needed and it is easy to avoid swearing online unlike in real life. The reason the members of DWRedux swear is because of conformity and group mentality; they see swearing as the 'in thing' or the cool thing. Group mentality annoys me greatly and thus I doubt I will stay on that forum if I join it. Nice to see that those I am supposed to believe are friends still defend me in my absence, Master. You know damned well I neither swear nor need conformity, and this ridiculous generalisation is exactly the sort of thing you and I both railed against LM for. If you actually bothered to take the time to look at Redux you would realise that there is a wide variety of opinions there. However, it is curious to note the homogenised nature of thought patterns and trends on this whole band of fora. 'Judge not, lest ye be judged...'

I did not mean you, Valium, however most members of that site do seem to be conformists and swearers as a glance at the forum will reveal. I do not like forums that mock members from another site; members on that site were being unpleasent about Thascalos which I didn't like because a) she is a beautiful human being who is one of my friends on TFF and my only regular friend on this board, b) she is delightfully non-conformist, c) she isn't a member of DWRedux and d) she rarely has a harsh word to say about anyone.
From my glances at DWRedux, most members do indeed conform to others' views; they swear because they think it clever, they all join in on the mocking sessions (one of which I mentioned above) and they all generally share the same view about Doctor Who.
I certainly do not share trends or opinions with other members of this site; which may be why I am virtually ignored. I don't really see anyother members who may be 'clones' on this site either.....on DWRedux, I cannot tell most members apart.
No, out of respect for this forum, Thasc and myself, I will not join Redux and I certainly do not think this site has outlived its usefulness.

Nice to see that those I am supposed to believe are friends still defend me in my absence, Master. Thasc thought that you were both friends until she saw what you posted about her, CV. Why you all mock her is beyond me. We were all invited there to look around and maybe join up, but I along with others feel it is not for us. Now, as I stated before, the opinions there are a bit extreme and the language colouful to say the least. Yes, kids swear behind their parents back, but being a parent myself, I have the right to sheild my kids from reading it. I can control that, but cannot control what is said out of my earshot. You are all free to swear away. It's your forum after all, but why should we be mocked for having that difference of opinion?

Valium, I have just seen your poem called 'The Song of the Thascalites' (which I missed before) and I must admit that I am shocked. I never thought you, sir, would post anything so disgraceful about a lady. That post was not by the Valium I used to know. You know damned well I neither swear nor need conformity, and this ridiculous generalisation is exactly the sort of thing you and I both railed against LM for. We also railed against insulting members who couldn't defend themselves. I don't have to back you up on this just because you are my friend, I believe in justice, fairness and good manners and will fight for those things to be respected and upheld.

Swearing is not a major issue (though the level of swearing on Redux is a bit childish and swearing online isn't really hard to control.....) but mocking people who cannot defend themself is. Thasc is not a member of Redux and thus the attacks on her are cowardly (and ungentlemanly). I presume I will be getting a hate thread now; you may call me pompous, old-fashioned, moronic, neurotic, psychotic, stupid or retarded, I don't care as I know what the members of Redux are like and if Thasc is someone worthy of your hatred I will be proud to be put in the same category.

It was in fact mild compared with what else has been said about her. Everything that has been said about her is very unnecessary.

And here is the thread I predicted: www.doctorwhoredux.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=380I will reply to some messages in it without naming names or swearing. Who is this misinformed member? Certainly not me or Duncan. Punks are conformist who follow a group, I think you need to read up about conformity; I suggest a book called 'Human Groups' by W.J. Sprott. The Sex Pistols were also a manufactured group (similar to the Monkees but cruder!). I have seen many like you. You are a Punk and thus conform to the Punk way of life. Says the man who gains a job whenever someone disagrees with him about professions, Mr Scientist/Actor/[ {<INSERT JOB HERE>}. .....said DWRedux's refined intellectual. How petty. I am not at all upset as I know what type of people the members of DWRedux are. Their latest thread has proved them to be childish and weak. Thascalos shouldn't have been upset by what these things have said as they truly are immature.

And in that thread I have been accused of repeatedly slagging off Rob Filth to mods of other forums. That is not true. I bemoaned the comments made against Thasc and as Rob Filth never made those comments I was not slagging him off once let alone repeatedly.
In fact, just yesterday, I said this about Rob Filth;
"In all the disagreements he and I had on LM, he never once posted anything personally offensive against me."
I have no problem with the members of REDUX. I have chosen not to join there and they are free to post what they want. As I am free to say something if they post offensive comments against someone who does not deserve it.
As I said earlier in this thread. I wish REDUX good luck but it is not for me.

To be fair, that's down to proboards Terms of Service. Although some words can be over ridden by the admin if they so wish.
